Glass Art

In 1910 Cesare Toso was born on the island of Murano, Venice. As a child he became familiar with the magical, fire lit atmosphere of the glassworks. At an early age he began to work in the famous Vetreria Capellin, and by the age of 18 he was already a Master glassmaker.
His technical skills developed along with his artistic sensibility and this led him to work at the Vetreria Morassi and C. where he was to remain until 1946, the year in which he founded the Vetreria Toso Cesare glassworks. Here, he was able to transfer all the skills and secrets of the craft to his son Edilio.
The products of the Toso Cesare glassworks were initially based on eighteenth-century Venetian styles: elegant, classic-style chandeliers, wall fixtures and sconces displaying all the quality and beauty of the renowned Murano glassmaking traditions. Meticulous testing on colour and constant research on form and features led the company to produce up-to-the-minute pendant lighting fixtures, interpreted through the unique clarity of Murano glass.
